The Children & Families Dept has today published its report on the statutory consultation process.

As widely anticipated, the report supports the Dept’s preferred option for new build at Fountainbridge and this is the recommendation which will be presented for City Council consideration / endorsement on June 28th.

The report summarises both the individual comments received and the discussion points made at the public meetings and draws these together under a number of themes.  The themes are subdivided into specific issues with a ‘Council Response’ provided for each issue.  The Education Scotland view, and associated Council response to it, are also included.

As well as the consultation outcome, the report also provides a useful Project Update (Section 6, p19).  One important point to highlight here is that Scottish Ministers have now formally given exemption from the 1967 School Premises regulations and consented to a 1.0ha site for a school of 1150 at Fountainbridge, should Council endorse this option.

The Parent Council and New School Subgroup will consider the report in detail as well as whether or not we wish to make a formal representation on June 28th.
